I’m Jaime Young, Instructional Design Supervisor for FIU Online. I’m committed to creating inclusive, high-quality learning experiences that connect theory, design, and real-world impact. My work bridges research-based frameworks, data-driven insights, and user-centered practice to design engaging online courses that enhance learning and accessibility for all students.
In collaboration with faculty, staff, and university partners, I develop courses that align with clear learning objectives, integrate multimedia and accessibility standards, and deliver measurable results in student engagement and success. Each project in this portfolio reflects a blend of instructional design theory, creativity, and continuous improvement, showcasing how thoughtful design can transform teaching and learning at Florida International University.

Beyond driving efficiency, quantity, and productivity, I believe the next frontier in instructional design lies in elevating quality and creativity. Great leaders use AI to amplify human potential, to think deeper, design smarter, and inspire innovation. I view AI not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a catalyst for it. We must be cautious yet bold: professionals who use AI will replace those who don’t.
My design philosophy is grounded in clarity, structure, and intentionality. Every successful course begins with clear, measurable learning objectives that define outcomes, guide content selection, and shape meaningful assessments. I focus on understanding the learner, creating learner-centered pathways, and structuring content to move from foundational concepts to higher-order application using models such as ADDIE and Backward Design.
I believe in active learning, varied instructional materials, and continuous improvement. Courses should evolve through reflection, analytics, and learner feedback. Accessibility, inclusivity, and thoughtful technology integration remain non-negotiable pillars of my work. In addition to pedagogy and instructional rigor, I prioritize visual course design, recognizing that an engaging, coherent interface enhances the student learning experience. Modern LMS features, AI-powered tools, and creative authoring platforms allow me to design high-quality, visually cohesive learning environments.
This portfolio represents the intersection of innovation, empathy, and evidence-based practice, where data meets creativity, technology supports humanity, and AI enhances the art and science of learning. At FIU Online, I continue exploring how design, pedagogy, and emerging technologies can work together to transform higher education for the better.
